Il film di Sam Mendes ha trionfato ai DGA Awards 2020, sbaragliando la concorrenza di Parasite e C’era una volta a Hollywood

Sam Mendes trionfa ai DGA Awards 2020. A 20 anni dalla vittoria del Director Guild American Award con il film American Beauty, Sam Mendes porta nuovamente a casa il premio. In corsa per l’Oscar, Sam Mendes ha già vinto il PGA e il Golden Globe per 1917. Ecco cosa ha dichiarato subito dopo la vittoria del DGA Award, giunto alla settantaduesima edizione:

“Invece di parlare dei registi del passato, parlerò solo di questi quattro. Ringrazio Quentin per aver realizzato un film così pieno di amore – amore per questi personaggi, amore per il periodo storico, amore per i film e amore per la città. Voglio ringraziare Taika Waititi per aver dimostrato che la storia può essere raccontata con spirito, malizia e gioia. Voglio ringraziare Bong Joon Ho per aver realizzato il migliore, senza dubbio il miglior film legato alla povertà, che io abbia mai visto. E voglio ringraziare, ovviamente, Martin Scorsese, per aver messo tutto sul tavolo con The Irishman. È un maestro.”
