Donnie Darko: 5 cose che non sapevate!
Nel film la professoressa Pommeroy (Drew Barrymore) dice “un famoso linguista una volta ha detto che tra tutte le frasi in inglese la più bella era Cellar Door”. Il linguista a cui si riferisce è J.R.R. Tolkien, che nel saggio English and Welsh (1955) scrisse: “Most English-speaking people… will admit that cellar door is ‘beautiful’, especially if dissociated from its sense (and from its spelling). More beautiful than, say, sky, and far more beautiful than beautiful”. Per errore però Richard Kelly ha attribuito la parternità della frase a Edgar Allan Poe.
La scena in cui Donnie corregge Gretchen fu improvvisata in quanto l’attrice non riusciva a pronunciare correttamente il nome del professor Kenneth Monnitoff
